The Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation presented its second annual scholarship award named in honor of SMSgt Levarn Adger (Ret) on Friday 29 April at the CA Johnson High School’s AFJROTC 40th Annual Awards Dining Out. SMSgt Adger is the Aerospace Science Instructor (ASI) at CAJ HS. The award was presented to Cadet 1st Lieutenant Gabriel Cade. Gabriel is a senior top academic performer and one of the highest ranking cadets in the cadet corps. Gabriel plans to attend Clafin University in Orangeburg, SC. The SMSgt Adger Scholarship includes a $500 award. This scholarship is unique to the CAJ AFJROTC unit because of the extensive service done by CAJ cadets to administer the TAI AFJROTC award program for all of the other 889 AFJROTC units and over 114,000 cadets around the world. The scholarship winner must have presented a report at a TAI National Convention. Gabriel presented to the Tuskegee Airmen Inc National Conventions in Philadelphia, PA in 2008 and San Antonio, TX in 2010. Col Bill McClary (Ret), in the red jacket, represented the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation and the local Spann Watson chapter of Tuskegee Airmen Inc. (TAI). Also in the photo on the far right is 2nd Lt Brittany R. Clifton, the guest speaker for the event and a former CAJ AFJROTC cadet. |
